After securing the South African national championships jersey in February of this year, our Northern Hemisphere riders had the chance to compete in their national championships this past weekend. Tremendous performances in Eritrea and Norway saw our riders do the double, winning the Road Race and Time Trial events in both countries.
Daniel Teklehaimanot won the Eritrean time trial title and will now debut his national jersey at the Tour de France during the opening time trial on Saturday. Natnael Berhane won the Eritrean road race title and he will get to wear his new jersey at the first road stage of the Tour of Austria on Sunday. The three will accompany Jacques Janse van Rensburg, who received the approval on his jersey from Cycling SA earlier on.
Edvald Boasson Hagen secured both the time trial and the road race titles in Norway. It will be a proud moment for Edvald to wear his national colours on each and every stage of the Tour de France this year.
