Stephen has been a super domestique racing at the world tour level for the past 5 years. Steve is no stranger to South African cycling as during the early stages of his career he raced for the Barloworld outfit.
Steve himself spent quite a bit of time racing in South Africa and even won a stage in the Giro del Capo. While Steve has ridden in support of a designated team leader for the majority of his career, he went on to show his strength and capabilities as a protected rider in 2014 when he won the Tour of Mediterranean overall. It was Steve’s time trialing ability that secured him the victory, an ability MTN-Qhubeka will be hoping to exploit in 2015 as Steve will be able to target short tours that include a time trial. This same skill Steve posses will also be a key factor in the teams leadout train and performances in team time trials.
