In my last blog I promised I’d make it a more consistent thing to come out of me. So here is a little insight into my last races Bayern Rundfahrt aka “The Cold and Rainy one” and Ronde Van Zeeland Seaports.
Well there’s not much I can say about Bayern other then WOW. And in that wow there are a few different reasons.
Wow #1 – For the way our team rode – Africa’s Team is definitely stepping it up.
Wow #2 – For this crazy weather – I can tell you there is only one day in my life I was colder than the final day of Bayern and that was Milan San Remo but it wasn’t far off.
Wow #3 – For the amazing race, amazing countryside, great hotels and even better roads. It’s definitely the best I’ve raced on. I came away from the race with a lot of confidence as I watch my form grow and my skills grow in the crazy finish, helping Gerald and the guys. I can’t wait to go back next year.
My week after the race consisted of more rain and cold weather so you can imagine how big a smile I had on my face when we arrived in Belgium for Ronde van Zeeland and the SUN was shinning. I thought I was dreaming or hallucinating but it was actually shinning. For the race it was a normal crazy Dutch race…small roads, plenty lefts and rights and a fair amount of cobbles…Oh and a lot of wind. The legs were pretty good but got caught out like an idiot with 25km or so to go and missed the front split but I’m happy with how I rode until then.
Now I really am looking forward to the awesome races I’ve got coming up. GP Gippening in Switzerland on Thursday the 6th June, Berlin Race in Germany on Sunday the 9th, Skoda Tour of Luxembourg from Wednesday the 12th till Sunday the 16th and then Ruddervoorde in Germany on Tuesday the 18th. Busy times ahead but always exciting and fun…
