No I didn’t fall off the face of the earth but I did have to go back to South Africa to go find out what was going on with me. I just wasn’t functioning on all levels and things were not looking so great on the inside but after plenty tests, I know my body is doing pretty good. Everything isn’t resolved yet as there are a few results that will come back to me over the next month or so (hopefully) but will have to be monitored for the next couple months just to make sure things don’t go the way they have. We rather want things to start getting better so I can race as a healthy bike rider. So no I’m not dying or dead just yet but I am maybe just a little too skinny for me and for the lovely Euro weather.
Anyway enough of the ugly issues and onto the good stuff. I’m back in RAINY Lucca and off to go race 4 days of Dunkerque Wednesday to Sunday. I can’t wait to pin a number on my jersey again. It has been frustrating but the down time will do me good and I know I will bounce back as good as new. The last race I did, it was snowing and raining like crazy (Milan – San Remo) so you can imagine I’m chomping at the bit to get into the thick of things again but I’ll have to behave and make sure I take it easy to build back and not destroy the progress we have made over the last 5 weeks on my health. I don’t want to have to go through all of that again.
Anyway I know this is a short and sweet blog but I haven’t got much news this month besides my bad health issues but look forward to this being a monthly thing and hopefully next month I’ll have some great stories to tell of the racing coming up. For now, I really look forward to catching up with all my team mates again and sharing a laugh…
Cheers
