The 16th of June is a very important day to everyone in South Africa as we celebrate our national youth day. It is obviously a special day for our team too as the heart and soul of our team revolves around bettering the lives of the youth in South Africa through our #BicyclesChangeLives campaign.
To celebrate the youth of South Africa with us, you can help Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung to provide bicycles for 5,000 South African schoolchildren who currently walk 30 minutes or more to school through the #BicyclesChangeLives campaign.
500,000 pupils in South Africa walk 5km or more to school. Findings from an internal evaluation of the Bicycle Educational Empowerment Programme (BEEP) undertaken in Zambia in 2012 showed that learners who received bicycles increased their attendance rates by an average of 28%, and academic performance for learners increased by 59%.
