The final stage of Tour de Korea came down to the expected mass sprint with Sung Baek Park (KSPO) taking the win ahead of Keon Woo Park (RTS-Santic Racing Team) and Anthony Giacoppo (Avanti Racing Team). Kristian Sbaragli was in the mix for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung and would cross the line in 7th position.

Hugh Carthy (Rapha Condor JLT) would hold on to his leader’s yellow jersey to win the tour overall. Hyeon Min Choe (Guemsan Insam Cello) finished 2nd on the GC with Jack Haig (Avanti Racing Team) taking out the final podium spot. Dennis van Niekerk and Tsgabu Grmay would both finish in the top 10 on the GC for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung although both riders are slightly disappointed with their results as the top step of the podium was our race goal.

The Korean stage race was one of constant near misses for Team MTN-Qhubeka as the team leave the race with 3 stage podium finishes, 2nd in the points competition, 2nd in the team competition and 7th and 10th on GC.

Directeur Sportif – Kevin Campbell

We set out to win this race but despite coming close a few times, we end the tour with no victories. I know the team tried its best but I believe we underperformed in this race despite still having 2 riders in the top 10 on GC. We use these events to develop our young team and this tough experience will make our team stronger in the long run.
