Today starts the oldest Italian one day classic, the Milano-Torino. Racing from Settimo Milanese over 193.5km to Torino, Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung while line-up against a strong field of mostly World Tour & Pro-Continental teams at the 95th edition of this prestigious race.
This year will be the 2nd time Team MTN-Qhubeka take part in the event after being invited to last years edition of the race. Sergio Pardilla was our highest placed finisher then, only just missing out on a top 20 finish. The race itself suits your punchy type rider with a mostly flat 170km run-in to 2 ascents of the Basilica di Superga.
At 5km’s in length, the climb will certainly shake up the race as numerous attacks are always expected the first time up, before the fast descent back down and around to do it all again one more time. The MTN-Qhubeka team selected will be lead by our resident Italian, Kristian Sbaragli with Louis Meintjes, Jay Thomson, Tsgabu Grmay, Ferekalsi Debesay, Dennis van Niekerk and Adrien Niyonshuti filling out the roster.
Racing gets underway at 10:45 with the expected finish to be around 15:20.
