Sonny Colbrelli (Italian National Team) made it 2 wins in 2 days by sprinting to victory at the GP Industria from a select group.
Kristian Sbaragli (MTN-Qhubeka) was 2nd on the line with Danilo Napolitano (Wanty Groupe Gobert) rounding out the podium in 3rd position.
It was another great day of racing for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung as both Sbaragli and Jacques Janse van Rensburg made it into a move of 11 riders that jumped clear inside the first 25km’s. The escape group built up a lead of almost 5 minutes before the chase from behind began. The pace was so hard in the peloton that with 30km’s to go, there was no more than 40 riders left in the peloton that were chasing the break.
With 20km’s to go, the gap was down to a minute for the break and so Jerome Baugnies (Wanty Groupe Gobert) and Janse van Rensburg decided to take off on there own. Sbaragli sat up at this point to conserve energy for a possible sprint finish. Baugnies and Janse van Rensburg did extremely well to hold off the peloton up until the 2km to go banner, a great effort by our South African climber. Even though Sbaragli had spent all day in the break, he still had the power to take a fine 2nd place in the sprint after Dennis van Niekerk did what he could to assist the Italian in the sprint.
