The 10th stage of the Vuelta a Espana saw the riders tackle the 36.7km time trial course with Tony Martin (Omega Pharma Quickstep) showing off his world champion pedigree by taking the stage win.

Rigoberto Uran (Omega Pharma Quickstep) made it a good day for the Belgian team by taking 2nd place, Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing) was 3rd.

Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung set out with the plan to have Daniel Teklehaimanot and Sergio Pardilla give the course a real go while the remaining riders conserved some energy for the days to come. Teklehaimanot came home with the fastest time, just 2’56” behind the world champion. Pardilla was able to maintain his 20th position on GC by coming in 3’46” down.

Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung now look forward to a week that includes some really tough stages. The upcoming climbs are to the liking of our climbers, who are all in good spirits. Merhawi Kudus has been recovering well from his crash earlier on in the tour while Louis Meintjes has commented that his legs are still feeling pretty good. We expect to see some exciting racing over the next few stages.
