It was really nice to end my season in the front of a race. I was in the break in Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli. It was very hard to be there but it was nice. I was in good shape and was there to help Sergio and Louis. I was covering moves in the first 20 kilometres and then found myself in the break.
My season hasn’t gone exactly like I would have wanted. My performance hasn’t been where I want it to be. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I want to fix it next year. I think sometimes it’s ok to make mistakes but the key is to learn from them. If you make the same mistake over and over you’re not learning and you won’t develop. I didn’t train as much as I could of but I’m ready for next year and super motivated already.
It was the first time for me in the professional races and I’ve learnt a lot. I really believe next year will be better for me. We did so many races with the best riders in the world like Alberto Contador and Vincenzo Nibali. That opportunity really motivates me and it’s pushing me forward.
The team’s results like Milan San Remo and my first professional victory in Taiwan and what Sergio has done this season is really good for us and proves to me that we can make it in the sport.
I am back in Ethiopia now and I’m enjoying seeing my family. You don’t see your friends for many months when you are in Europe so it’s nice to see everything that’s familiar to you and to see your friends who you’ve missed. Ethiopia is so different to Europe and I really love it so the time here is really good.
The next time I write to you we will be at our training camp preparing for a big 2014.
