Biography

Jaco returned to Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung in 2012 after spending two years on Belgian and Luxembourg teams. He previously rode for the team in 2010 when he finished on the podium of the national championships in the individual time trial. He is also a former under 23 SA national time trial champion and has finished 4th overall in the Tour de l’Avenir. Because of his speed on the bike, he plays a key role in the team’s leadout train and team time trials. His best individual result from 2013 was 4th in the time trial in Settimana Ciclistica Internazionale Coppi-Bartali. He finished in the top 20 of several other races before breaking his elbow in August which ended his season.

What has been your best moment on bike?
The first National Championships that I won.

Who has had the most influence on your cycling career and why?
My Family. For their support

Rider you most admire and why?
Chris Froome. He started cycling in South Africa and I know him and can relate to him.

If you were not in professional cycling what would you be doing right now?
Studying

I have a girlfriend
